That’s why we’re proud to continue our partnership with Global Code, a remarkable charity on a mission to equip university students in Ghana with the skills, experience, and confidence to thrive in today’s fast-moving tech world. 

 What is Global Code? 

Global Code is more than just a coding bootcamp—it’s a transformative experience. 

Launched in 2017, this free, three-week training program is designed for computer science students in Ghana’s public universities. It bridges the gap between academic theory and industry practice by delivering immersive, hands-on learning guided by seasoned tech professionals from around the world. 

What started with one instructor and just 18 students have grown into a high-impact initiative that trains hundreds of young minds each year. From the UK to the U.S. to across Africa, volunteer instructors bring world-class technical training directly to the classroom—sharing not just knowledge, but also mentorship and inspiration. 

A Curriculum Built for the Real World 

Global Code’s fast-paced, practical curriculum goes beyond the basics. Students dive into: 

• Programming fundamentals 

• Web development and APIs 

• Data structures and version control 

• Agile methodologies and soft skills 

But it’s not just about writing code. The program also emphasises critical thinking, collaboration, and communication, equipping students with the full toolkit they’ll need to succeed in professional tech environments. 

After a brief hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Global Code relaunched in 2023 with even more momentum, scaling its reach to ensure more students, regardless of background, have access to world-class tech education.

How Turntabl Supports Global Code 

As a long-term partner, Turntabl plays a hands-on role in helping Global Code deliver on its promise. Here’s how we contribute: 

1. Expert Training & Mentorship 

Our experienced engineers serve as trainers throughout the program, teaching technical topics like web development, APIs, and data structures, while also coaching students on essential soft skills. 

2. Project-Based Learning 

In the final week, students work in teams to solve real-world tech challenges. Turntabl engineers act as project advisors and reviewers, giving feedback that helps students refine their solutions and improve their presentations. 

3. Internship Pathways 

Each year, we offer internships to top-performing students from the program. These placements give them valuable industry experience and often lead to full-time roles at Turntabl and beyond.
