We started by training brilliant young Ghanaians in coding. Where traditional opportunities let down talented youth, we connect potential to education, passion to skills, and creativity to real-world business projects. And we’ve run our education program alongside the software development business from the very beginning.
With Ghana breaking out as West Africa’s technological development center, we have a greater duty to our customers. This means upgrading our commitment to prepare young Ghanaians for careers as global-grade software developers. Now our program is a whole new entity, and we happily present you with the next revolution.

What is turntabl labs?
labs is turntabl’s hub for in-house product development.
We created it to research new products, technologies and apps, allowing our Software Developers to learn, explore and innovate through delivering in-house projects and client collaborations. We were inspired by two of our fundamental values: Technical Excellence and Teaching and Learning.
labs provides our developers the space to experiment, feed their skills and talent, and optimise their output. Through this, our client projects receive a class of service that will transform turntabl into a cutting-edge tech hub.
How will this happen? We’ve already laid the foundation, and we recruit people for our cohorts every day. Through labs, our region and the rest of the world can see our people as a source of innovation, originality and results.
How Do We Support Ghana’s Tech Engineers?
We give everyone at labs clear direction and a supportive environment. Leads often assume project roles like Product Owner, Scrum Lead and Tech Lead, serving as agile coaches and mentors.
Engineers can explore new concepts and technologies, according to their focus and interests. They work as developers, lead projects, create the architecture as tech leads, create user stories, write requirements, and use automated QA tools to ensure high quality deliveries. They research and learn new tech stacks and technologies, ranging from Java, Kotlin, and Python to mobile app development, Kubernetes and DevOps.
How Are We Innovating?
2023 promises to be another exciting year for clients and collaborators.
In 2022, we created the NewsAggregator, which collects and aggregates tech news from and about Ghana and West Africa on our relaunched website. We’ve also built open-source projects for OpenTelemetry and created a project allocation tool for our client project domain, which assigns developers to client projects.
This year, we’re expanding our QA team to offer QA engineers along with developers to our clients. Most promisingly, future plans include open-source projects and supplying SaaS to our customers.
Power the People, Power The Future
turntabl labs is a constantly moving environment. It consists of turntabl developers who have gone through our TLC training program and now work on projects. Some are fresh university graduates; others have recently completed client projects. If you’re not working on a client project, you’re driving innovation at labs under the direction of Kicki Frisch, with the help of the leads team and the developer community.
We develop and deploy products for clients, the open source community and apps that are used internally at turntabl. We encourage our developers to be daring and open to new avenues of growth. Through this, they push themselves to explore and discover new talents and other ways of thinking. This has created greater client results and ever-evolving skillsets.
